Flashing red light & “CHECK ANODES”

June 28th, 2010

I just had a call from a customer with a flashing red light and the “Check Anodes” message on the screen.  Will try and answer the query in full to help others in the future.
There are 4 main reasons that I can think why this happens.
1. Your anodes need replacing.  This usually occurs every seond year in a normal 50,000 litre pool.
2. You have topped up your pool with new water or had heavy rain.
3. Your water level is lower than skimmer box and pump running dry. (this was answer for phone call in question)
4. You are running a Backwash or Rinse cycle on the filter.

The solutions:
1. Time for new anodes
2. Add a small bag of pool salt to skimmer box to increase water conductivity.
3.  Add water to pool, half way up skimmer box is ideal.
4.  Wait until switch back to filter and will correct itself.

What should my pH level be in my pool?
